Overview.

Residential assessments are offered on a 12 week basis which can be extended if necessary.  The Residential assessment is an interactive evidence based process which will explore all aspects of parenting capacity and areas of child development in accordance with the framework for assessment.

Our programme of intervention provides weekly in house group and one to one sessions, plus community groups such as the freedom project, substance misuse services and access to the local community centre which provides a range of services. We will support and encourage parents to access community resources which will enable them to grow and develop their own support networks in the future.

Our own one to one sessions will focus on the identified risks and the positives of each family member.

The plan will clearly identify the risks and the concerns raised by the placing Local Authority and will set out clear goals and timescales to be achieved. The parents and children will be an integral part of this planning from the start of the placement and will be fully involved in all reviews.  The placing Authority social workers are invited to monthly planning meeting to review the plan.

Our Residential family workers will help support and guide each family to ensure that they understand what is expected of them during their stay at the Nye. They will work alongside parents to help them develop their parenting skills, focusing on the child/parent bond promoting a relationship in which parents become attuned to the children’s needs.

Observation & monitoring

Fully equipped for CCTV supervision.

We have 24/7 CCTV supervision in communal areas and in each studio flat, not in the bathroom or toilet area, where parents will not be permitted to enter with their child.

We recognise it will be challenging living in a highly monitored environment, however at the viability stage we will discuss the level of risks and agree CCTV use with all parties involved.

Make a referral:

A referral form will be forwarded to you which includes a short risk assessment. This is necessary to ensure The Nye is the right resource for your family and that we are aware of the identified risks to the child.
