Overview.

We understand that the thought of moving to a new environment may cause you to worry and stress. We are here to help you and your child feel comfortable in your new surroundings.

Families are sent to us by the Local Authority due to concerns about the safety and wellbeing of children. At The Nye we place great importance on treating families with respect and dignity and we work hard to help all our families to feel safe and valued. We help everyone to live together amicably and will help with any issues between you and other families staying with us.

Assessment

Carried out by experienced social workers

Our Parenting Assessments are carried out in-house by qualified social workers and we are supported by residential family workers.

We focus on your strengths:

Our aim is for you to build confidence and self-esteem, helping you identify areas where you need to develop skills to address concerns that have been raised.

Planning work sessions

Ensuring you are involved and on-board.

Feedback meetings

Reviewing your performance in the facility.

Open Discussions

A conversation on how you feel you are doing.

Local Activities

Parent/toddler groups, swimming and baby massage.

Each family will be given a weekly planner setting out details of the one to one and group sessions, meetings and appointments which you will be expected to attend. We will provide you with the best opportunities to learn to correctly care for your child and to look after yourself and your home.

You will have full responsibility for yourself and your baby/child which means you must make sure that you remain healthy, prepare meals, and have plenty of sleep and walks outside.

All our staff are responsible for protecting babies and young children and will report any concerns of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate person who will investigate and share any concerns with the referring Local Authority.

Visitors are not allowed to attend The NYE or to be with children and their parents staying at resource without prior permission from the Local Authority.
